Choose the JRL Onyx if you want the longest runtime and the biggest guard set: up to 5 hours on the clipper and ten guards from #0.5 to #8. Choose the JRL x Lamborghini Diamante if you want a brushless clipper that tops out at 8,200 RPM, a zero-gap 0 to 3.0mm blade with a quick-swap design and a limited-edition finish. Both are professional cordless tools with a matching trimmer, and both sell well at MV. Here is how they compare, spec by spec.

The clippers: Diamante 2025C vs Onyx
Power and speed
The Diamante clipper runs a brushless motor with two speeds, 6,500 and 8,200 RPM. The Onyx clipper runs at 6,000 or 7,500 RPM and uses Smart-Clip, which senses blade resistance and adjusts the motor so it does not drag or stall. The Diamante has the higher top speed; the Onyx has the extra hour of runtime.
Blade and adjustment
The Diamante's fade blade adjusts from 0 to 3.0mm and can be set to zero gap with the tool in the box. Its second-generation blade system separates the upper and lower blades, so a blade swap needs no extra assembly. The Onyx Fade Precision Blade is stainless steel and adjusts from 0.5 to 3.5mm, with five preset taper positions and infinite adjustment in between.
On paper, the Diamante cuts closer at the short end (0mm against 0.5mm) and the Onyx opens wider at the long end (3.5mm against 3.0mm).
Battery and charging
The Onyx wins on runtime: up to 5 hours from a full charge, which takes about 3 hours. Its 5-hour Reset IQ mode conditions the battery so it keeps charging to 100%. The Diamante runs for up to 4 hours from a 3500mAh lithium-ion battery and also charges on a Reset IQ dock.
What comes in the box
The Onyx comes with ten guards from #0.5 to #8, a Reset IQ dock, blade protector, cleaning brush, oil and screwdriver. The Diamante clipper comes with six guards, a blade gap adjustment tool, a Reset IQ dock, blade protector, brush and oil.
The trimmers: Diamante 2025T vs Onyx
| Trimmer | Diamante (2025T) | Onyx |
|---|---|---|
| Motor | 8,200 RPM, brushless | 8,200 RPM |
| Blade | 42mm blade, near-zero gap with EZ-Gap tool | EZ-Gap T-blade, zero-gap capable, 360-degree exposed |
| Runtime | Up to 3 hours | Up to 3.5 hours |
| Guide combs | 5 | 5 |
Both trimmers run at 8,200 RPM. The Onyx trimmer runs longer, up to 3.5 hours from a 1.5-hour charge, and its exposed T-blade gives a clear view of the line on edge-ups. The Diamante trimmer runs on the same brushless platform as its clipper, which makes it the natural partner if you buy the Diamante clipper.
Blades and parts do not swap between them
This is the detail most buyers miss. Diamante and Onyx blades are not interchangeable:
- Diamante clipper: the 2025C Diamante EZ Gap Clipper Blade is a full assembly with a blade lever and EZ-GAP tool. JRL says it does not fit the Onyx or any other JRL clipper.
- Diamante trimmer: the 2025T Diamante blade fits the Diamante trimmer only.
- Onyx: the Onyx precision fade blade and the EZ-Gap M trimmer blade are sold separately in our JRL blades, guards and parts range.
Which should you buy?
- You cut all day, back to back: Onyx. Five hours of clipper runtime and ten guards cover a full day of bookings.
- You live on skin fades and sharp detail: Diamante, for the brushless 8,200 RPM top speed and a blade that tunes to zero gap.
- You want a statement at the chair: Diamante, in black or yellow.
- You want the longest-running trimmer: Onyx, at up to 3.5 hours.
- You cut at home: Onyx. Ten guards make even, repeatable lengths easier, and the long runtime means fewer charges.
Duos, trios and colours
The Diamante comes as a clipper and trimmer duo in black or yellow, as trios that add the Onyx SF Pro foil shaver, and in the Bumblebee set with a matching Forte Pro Lite dryer. See them all in the JRL x Lamborghini range.
The Onyx comes as single tools, a clipper and trimmer combo, trios with the SF Pro shaver and Ghost White kits, all in our JRL Onyx tools and kits range. Prefer the original FreshFade 2020C or the compact 3000C? Our JRL clipper guide compares those with the Onyx.

Diamante vs Onyx FAQs
Is the JRL Lamborghini clipper worth it?
Yes, if you want the Diamante's specs as well as the finish: a brushless 6,500/8,200 RPM motor, a 0 to 3.0mm zero-gap blade and a quick-swap blade system. If runtime and guard count matter more to you, the Onyx is the better buy.
Is the JRL Diamante brushless?
Yes. The Diamante clipper and trimmer both use 8,200 RPM brushless motors, and the clipper also has a 6,500 RPM setting.
Which has the longer battery life, Diamante or Onyx?
The Onyx. The Onyx clipper runs for up to 5 hours against up to 4 for the Diamante clipper, and the Onyx trimmer runs for up to 3.5 hours against up to 3 for the Diamante trimmer.
Will Diamante blades fit my JRL Onyx?
No. JRL says the 2025C Diamante clipper blade does not fit the Onyx or other JRL clippers, and the 2025T blade fits the Diamante trimmer only.
Do both come with charging docks?
Yes. The Diamante clipper and trimmer each come with a Reset IQ dock. The Onyx clipper comes with a Reset IQ dock, and the Onyx trimmer has its own charging dock.
