How to choose scissors: 5.5"–6" suits precision and point cutting; 6.5"–7" suits scissor-over-comb and barber work. Japanese steel (VG10, 440C) holds an edge longer than standard stainless; an offset or crane handle reduces wrist strain over a long day. Thinners are described by tooth count — around 30 teeth for blending, 40 or more for softening ends. Keep them sharp with a scissor holder, regular oiling and professional sharpening rather than dropping them in a drawer.
