BaBylissPRO names can be confusing: GoldFX, SilverFX, BlackFX, RoseFX, FXOne, LO-PROFX, SnapFX, Skeleton. Some of those are different tools and some are just colours. Here is the short version.
The colours are finishes, not models
GoldFX, SilverFX, BlackFX, RoseFX and the limited editions are colour versions of the same tool. A GoldFX Skeleton trimmer and a SilverFX Skeleton trimmer have the same motor, blade and battery. Pick the finish you like and compare the model names underneath.
FX870 clipper – the classic
The original FX clipper (sold as LithiumFX, GoldFX, SilverFX and so on) is a high-torque brushless clipper with a taper lever and around two hours of cordless runtime. It made BaBylissPRO the barbershop brand it is today and is still a great all-round fade clipper.
FXOne – one battery for every tool
FXOne is the current flagship system. The clipper, trimmer and foil shaver all share the same interchangeable battery, so you can keep a spare on charge and swap it mid-cut instead of stopping. If you are building a full BaBylissPRO kit from scratch, FXOne is the range to standardise on.
SnapFX – swappable battery, single tool
The SnapFX clipper and SnapFX trimmer use a snap-in battery pod that pops out in seconds. Same idea as FXOne – never wait on a charge – without moving to the full FXOne platform.
LO-PROFX – low profile for close work
The LO-PROFX clipper and LO-PROFX trimmer sit lower in the hand, so you can see the blade and get flat against the head on skin fades and lineups. Barbers who do a lot of detailed, close work often keep a LO-PROFX next to a full-size clipper.
Trimmers: Skeleton, FX3 and LO-PROFX
The Skeleton trimmer is the lineup standard – an exposed, zero-gap-adjustable T-blade for crisp edges. The FX3 is the newer, higher-torque trimmer for thick hair and beards, and the LO-PROFX trimmer is the low-profile choice.
Foil shavers
The FoilFX02 double foil shaver is the finishing tool for skin fades and bald heads, with hypoallergenic foils that cut close and feel comfortable. The UVFoil adds a UV light charging base, and the FXOne shaver runs on the shared FXOne battery.
